We are the only holistic Vet practice in Hobart specialising in natural therapies. Sandy Bay Holistic Veterinary Centre is the Vet practice of Dr David Boersma. We are located in the Hobart suburb of Sandy Bay. There is plenty of free parking in the street and at the back of the practice.
Dr David Boersma is qualified in conventional veterinary medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture. David uses natural and conventional therapies to enhance recovery from illness and injury.
We focus on your pet’s well-being and their particular health problems. For example, if your pet has a broken leg, this will affect their health in other ways. Their exercise will be limited; they may gain weight or lose confidence and become depressed. Dr Boersma takes all these factors into account when treating your pet. Combining treatments can also give better results and help your pet recover quickly from illness or injury.
Our natural therapies are gentle and without the unpleasant side effects of some conventional medicines. We prescribe hydrotherapy, PEMF, Laser, acupuncture, Ozone, Homeopathy, Western herbs, and Chinese Herbal medicine.
At Sandy Bay Holistic Vet Centre, we book morning appointments between 8.30 a.m. - 11.30 a.m.
We are usually in surgery from 11:30 - 3:00pm.
Consultations resume at 3.30 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. (Wednesday evening's until 7 - 8 p.m.)
We are open on Saturdays from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. to collect food and medications, and a nurse is available for some therapies. If Dr Boersma is seeing your pet for the first time or a second opinion for a chronic condition, we allow one hour.
If you are visiting for the first time and your pet has a chronic condition or multiple health problems, we have a questionnaire for you to complete. It gives Dr Boersma insight into your pet’s health history that will help him understand their condition and aid in diagnosis.
We may also ask permission to contact your current or previous Vet for their clinic’s history. This is a normal occurrence, and most Vets share information willingly. Please bring it with you on your first appointment.
